Morningstar’s John Rekenthaler convened a panel of experts to discuss active management.
Reckenthaler met with Martijn Cremers, professor of finance at Notre Dame and co-creator of active share; Ben Inker, portfolio manager and leader of the asset allocation team at GMO; and Ben Johnson, director of global passive strategies research at Morningstar.
They answered and discussed many topics relating to active management such as:
- The various ways of being active-security selection, concentrated portfolios, big industry bets and more
- How highly active management should be used, how to succeed, and how to handle periods of poor performance.
- How active management relates to ETFs and how the FAANG phenomenon plays a role
